23 Sep “I am Looking for Companies NOT Like General Electric!”
Last week I took the Minister of Transportation of the United Republic of Tanzania to visit the General Electric Locomotive factory in Erie, PA.
You see, GE has been doing business in Africa for over four decades. So they get it. In our visit to GE we were discussing, among other things, a deal for a substantial number of locomotives. That is huge business and is only further evidence of the economic renaissance taking place in Africa. The need for those locomotives is the growth of overall business in East Africa that most (well let’s just say that closer to almost all) companies in the USA are woefully uninformed about.
Those trains will be filled with goods. Who’s goods? Well many companies will be using the railroad in the future to ship goods to Zambia, Malawi, Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and other countries. The population of that area will reach 400 million in the future. Thousands of tons of consumer goods, building products, food and more will be in demand and transported throughout the region. The projections for freight growth in Africa are simply staggering. From minerals and other products out of the regions to imported products into the region.
Again, I am looking for companies NOT like General Electric.
Until you take a good hard look at Africa you will never know what you could be missing out on. Contact me to schedule a free telephone conversation. My phone number in the USA is (440) 478-5516 or use the contact button on the top of the page.
